Barefoot in the Snow Dieting Parable ........ by DianaDee Osborne

MARCH 18
This morning I stepped out barefoot into the snow, just because I could!

Well, ok, also because all the tiny bird footprints in the snow looked so pathetic that I didn't want to wait to go back to get shoes before going outside with birdseed.

As I stepped back onto my warm floor and firmly closed out the cold air, I humbly realized that I did so 'because I could.' May we with awareness remember on days like today... many people cannot.

None of us would have problems with over-eating if we were not blessed with enough money to pay for food at all.... as many people are not. NOT A SERMON. Just a reminder:

PRAYER

Thank You, LORD God, for blessings often care-less-ly taken for granted. I pray that You will guide me to see where I can help Your hurting people. Holy Spirit, please give me wisdom and empowering to escape this self-centered world in my head... I give You permission to repeatedly nag at me even if I later say "I changed my mind and would rather just enjoy eating"......
or WHATEVER-ing. I pray in the Blessed Name of Jesus our LORD and Savior.

God's Supporting Word

To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. Tornado Warning Dieting Parable ....... by DianaDee Osborne

MARCH 15
The sky had blackened and the rain started pelting my windshield during the few miles since I'd left home to go pray & practice music at church that Tuesday morning. Sheets made the curvy road harder to see, and I noticed that no one else was out driving. My cell phone jingled--- that sound I had set for text messages. Both hands on the wheel, I ignored it.

Then the cell phone jingled again. I pulled over into a turn lane for a moment to see if someone really needed me to call. No. Both messages were County-sent Tornado Warnings. Not a tornado watch that conditions were favorable, but warnings that a tornado was quite possible.

I completed the journey, slowly, and noticed as I dashed into the sanctuary in the pouring rain that vans were parked on the far side of the church. A Preschool Moms meeting.

I went the full length of the church through its many hallways and called over the leader to say "I just wanted to check that you know we're under a tornado warning." She laughed and said, "oh, it's just a county-wide drill. They sent out word that it's just a drill."

(Only after I left the church did my cell phone have THAT message!)
I was rather embarrassed.

But there was no need to be. Better to be wrong when warning someone you care about, than for them to be hurt because you were more concerned about your time or possibility of being embarrassed.

Christians leaders differ on whether or not overeating is a sin... after all, it's not an orgy like Paul was talking about when he was speaking of people "whose god is their belly." So maybe I'm wrong.
But it surely seems logical that it would be a sin that
I often think more about my next snack than about my joy in God alone.......

PRAYER

LORD GOD, I pray for James 1:5 wisdom so that I do indeed live the way You want me to be. Help me to be more ashamed of refusing to risk speaking about you -- even to myself -- than of living in my self-centered bitty little world.

Proverbs 3: 5-6. "Trust in the LORD with all your might, and do not lean on your own understanding.

and He shall direct your paths."

Wycliffe Translaters and Dieting Goal ......... by DianaDee Osborne

MARCH 13
The Wycliffe Translator reported that even many Christians won't support getting God's Bible into a form that people in several 1000 remaining unreached tribes can read.

Why? "Because they know it's God's prophecy to happen before the End Times can come."

AS IF human strategy can keep The God who inspired amazing math models and computers from guiding someone to design a program to quickly complete translations in the 18 months!

If you're struggling like me in this losing-weight thing despite our efforts, take heart:

God _ LOOKS _ at our heart,

not _ at our scale.

Even when we turn away a-

while, return though failed.

Why is the Wycliffe Translator's comment relevant?

TIME IS SHORT.... whether it be your death or Jesus's return.

Let's let Satan be the one who fails -- who does
does not convince us to give up! James 4:7-8

PRAYER

LORD GOD, help me to NOT assume I've got all the time in the world....
help me to use your time gift wisely in all things, I pray for your James 1: 5 wisdom.
