"But Consider Him" Dieting (Hebrews 12:3) ..... by DianaDee Osborne

June 8                                                                                       SUBSCRIBE
As the rain beat down and down, slamming the world yesterday,
my thoughts returned yet again to a deep sorrow that keeps slamming against me:  A church person who is vitriolic toward me. Would not talk to me to say why. Evidences indicate a passing to others the attitude...
Wounding, scathing, hostile, sharp, barbed, cutting, hostile....
=Vitriolic.   And= unwilling to listen to logical evidence of error.

These past 6 years brought this new experience to me... I've been DIS-liked by people, of course.  I suspect 95% of us are at times.
And--  hey,
I'll be honest.... sometimes ** I ** dislike me.  With reason...
always related to me doing or saying something that doesn't reflect the way God would want me to do or say something.  (=My websites' theme verse 2nd Corinthians 3:18 -- Reflect God-- WITH the Holy Spirit's help,  'cause we sure ain't gonna succeed without Him.)

Here's why I am convinced BY GOD'S GRACE   that this
person's hatred toward me has helped me to grow --
NOT  THAT  GOD  APPROVES  ANYONE'S  HATRED!
But -- yet again we declare:   Romans 8:28 is very true --

God DOES bring good OUT of evil and hatred, wherever it is:

God's Supporting Word --  HEBREWS 12        LINK
BACKGROUND VERSES  1,
1   Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares [us], and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

KEY  VERSES:
2  Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of [our] faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3  For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

CONCLUSION   VERSES  -- AN   ORDER  TO HEAR  GOD's facts  as well as encouragements:

4   You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: "My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;  For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.   If  you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?  But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.  Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected [us], and we paid [them] respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? "

God's order --  for us Dieters,  too:

It is GOD'S  job    to deal with -- to chasten -- to rebuke -- the person who hates me and you.   Even Jesus did not enact any sort of punishment or revenge.  DARE WE TO?

It is GOD'S  job    to enact any punishment.

It is YOUR & MY   job  to pray for wisdom,
act as we feel God leads us to (WITHOUT returning the
acidic VITRIOLIC ANGER... That just delights SATAN
who, Jesus says, yearns to destroy you:  John 8:44,    First Peter 5:8).
It is YOUR & MY   job  to forgive and MOVE ON .....
even if it doesn't seem fair.  Even if we don't deserve the
hatred.  Even if it doesn't seem like God is giving that
person who caused us so much sorrow  'what she deserves".

 Why it's related to dieting:
God calls us to respond to people's hatred,  to the
deep sorrows they cause us AND maybe our children --
without angrily turning to food or shopping "or"
                    FOR COMFORT.
WITH   turning to Him -- Jesus --
"who endured such hostility from sinners against                      Himself _____  LEST you become weary and                                discouraged in your souls. "
AND MAKE SATAN HAPPY BY TURNING TO
                       FOOD  ETC.  INSTEAD OF GOD.

RECOMMENDATION:  When you're too weary of hate-filled or simply unkind people,
just sit and read through the Psalms.   This are not just the story of the Psalmist's life.
THESE ARE WORDS of COMFORT and PROMISE God directed written for US.

PRAYER
LORD GOD,  I an so confused by people who cause trouble by others... who seem to DELIGHT in creating havoc and pain.  Who even seem to NOT SEE  what they are doing.  I truly believe the person who has hurt me so much really is Your Child -- who believes in Jesus and who thinks she's right and I'm wrong.  I've prayed and prayed but see nothing that I can do.
If I'm wrong,  please give me Your James 1:5 wisdom to see it.
Please give me your courage to do what is right.  As David said to his son Solomon,
using the words YOU put into David's heart,  please help me follow Your word of
First Chronicles 28:20:  "And David said to his son Solomon,
"Be strong and of good courage, and do it;
do not fear nor be dismayed,
for the LORD God--my God--[will be] with you.
He will not leave you nor forsake you
until you have finished all the work
for the service of the house of the LORD.

ROMANS 8:26  to end:
26  Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27   Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit [is], because He makes intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God.
28  And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to [His] purpose. ....
33  Who shall bring a charge against God's elect?    [It is] God who justifies.
34  Who [is] he who condemns? [It is] Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
35  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [Shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36  As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter."   <GOD NEVER PROMISED A LIFE FILLED WITH JOY & BLESSINGS as preached>
37   Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us...
