God's Supporting Word
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. --Hebrews 10: 25 NLT LINK
The old King James version translates that phrase "meeting together"
as "ASSEMBLING TOGETHER".
These are TWO Greek words: Strong's Concordance Word #1997 defines the original first word as literally "gathering together in one place, assembling together".
Then the word translated as "TOGETHER" is the same #1997 --- God inspired this DOUBLE emphasis in the English translation. Which we know means
"IMPORTANT to God that you listen!"
THEN it gets even more cool: The word for "together" in Greek is episynagōgē -- See that word
"SYNAGOGUE" in there?! God's "church" word He uses.
How can we think that God did not PLAN our
LANGUAGES as well as His World?! He's EXCITING!
I'd always wondered why the old version used the word "Assembling".
Then in Hebrew class we studied all the times the word "assembly" is used to speak of God's people getting together to WORSHIP Him, SUPPORT each other, ACT in unison OBEYING God. BlueLetterBible.org gives this counting:
ASSEMBLY --- 123 times in the "Old Testament", plus 9 more in the new.
ASSEMBLE --- 19 times (O.T. only)
ASSEMBLED -- 24 times, then 9 more times.

Of course, all are not about people. Jeremiah 12:9 is about vultures and beasts. But most are God calling us to COME TOGETHER...
Which gets to the point of a Dieting Strategy:
It's always easier to do something hard
when you have a team mate.
It's always easier to fail when we're too proud to admit we NEED a team mate.
Obviously -- we need GOD as our team mate.
But God DESIGNED His world of people as He said in Hebrews 10:25
--- to ASSEMBLE together (even by phone or internet!) and support each other.

encourage one another...." --Hebrews 10: 25a NLT
