Backsliding Fears and Diets, by ............... DianaDee Osborne

December 3
I know that, in the long run,
what I eat or don't,
what I say or don't,
what I do "good" or "bad" will not affect "my eternal salvation" as they say in churches.  I know Jesus is LORD of all, and I've honestly told Him I want Him to be LORD of me (praying Romans 10:9).
It's hard to figure out how to have a blog that doesn't sound "preachy" using the word "you" at ya.  But here goes, with my James 1:5-type constant praying for wisdom:

You too can be confident in salvation: living with God after death.
Think of the LOGIC:
There's no way to do enough good to get into heaven. Jesus is the only Way.   (JOHN 14:6)
So logically,
doing bad doesn't disqualify Jesus's sacrifice for us
that CAN save (if we ask) us from hell
ANY MORE than doing good could save us from hell.
Which doing good never can.  No one's good enough.  Jesus said so.     Matthew 19:17      Mark 10:18     Luke 18:19

THERE'S A LOT OF COMFORT IN GOD'S PROMISE.  Especially after a self-centered day of eating and eating and shopping and shopping and.....

Romans 8:39 "....[Nothing]  shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord".  This is true even if we do NOT choose Jesus as LORD -- God still loves each and every person.  "The World."
So this verse can't be used to prove that we don't "lose heaven."
But ALL THE VERSES ABOUT GRACE DO.
Romans 3:20 -24 +,  Galatians 2:16 -21,  Ephesians 2 - full chapter of HOPE! and on,  and more....

"Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins.  You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world.  He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.
All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God's anger, just like everyone else.
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much,   that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead.
It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!"   --Ephesians's beginning verses,
which is paired with Romans 7's story of SIN coupled with
Romans 8's story of VICTORY!
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.  And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you  from the power of sin that leads to death.   (verses 1 and 2)

But just because we're now confident to be avoiding hell after asking Jesus to be our LORD doesn't mean we should be satisfied with self-centered sinnings, including over-shopping and over-eating and under-serving our Great God.
NOT  FOR  HEAVEN
BUT  FOR  HIM:
LET  US  STOP  HURTING  GOD  WITH  SIN.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus,  I thank you so much for Your undeserved love and grace.  Please help me to obey you -- to be your friend like you described, like you invited in John 14 and John 15.  Not just for me, but so that I can give joy to YOU as a friend.  I need your help to obey.  I ask forgiveness for past sinning and for strength and wisdom to stand for what You say is right.  I pray in Your Holy Name.
