Captains of Prayer Diet Story ...... by DianaDee Osborne

JANUARY  11
I'm not feeling real "creative" at the moment.
One of those self-centered blah times when I must
pray for forgiveness.
Came to the computer with absolutely ZILCH ideas for my diet blog.

Prayed for guidance.
Now, I wouldn't recommend this as a regular way to hear from God,
but TODAY ---- well,   this was PRETTY COOL.
I pulled up BlueLetterBible.org  which I've used extensively as a low-graphics,
fast and easy to use site for quickly finding verses by keywords
and in multiple translations.  It's the source for 99% of the
copy-and-paste scriptures on ALL 4  of my blogs.  (See Profile for others.)
In fact, I use this program so extensively that it is my internet HOME page.

I asked God,  "I'm going to just type in any book and chapter, and see what comes up.
If there's a message from You,  Please provide it."
So I typed in the SEARCH box  "Jeremiah 42".
Now, I know it's a long book.  Wasn't sure if it had THAT many chapters though.

And I know it's a rather DEPRESSING book.
Jeremiah ain't called "The Weeping Prophet" for nothing.
But here's the REALLY COOL imho  (in my humble opinion)
encouraging PRAYER of "all the captains of the forces",
and a reminder of what Jesus later said:

1   "Now all the captains of the forces, Johanan the son of Kareah, Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people, from the least to the greatest, came near and said to Jeremiah the prophet, "Please, let our petition be acceptable to you, and pray for us to the LORD your God, for all this remnant (since we are left but a few of many, as you can see),
3  that the LORD your God may show us the way in which we should walk and the thing we should do."
4   Then Jeremiah the prophet said to them, "I have heard. Indeed, I will pray to the LORD your God according to your words, and it shall be, that whatever the LORD answers you, I will declare [it] to you. I will keep nothing back from you."
5  So they said to Jeremiah, "Let the LORD be a true and faithful witness between us,
if we do not do according to everything which the LORD your God sends us by you.
Whether it is pleasing or displeasing,
we will obey the voice of the LORD
our God to whom we send you,
that it may be well with us
when we obey
the voice of the LORD our God."

Isn't this Wonderful!  It reflects FORWARD  to Jesus's Word in
John 15:14,  that "You are MY friends if you do whatever I command you."

And lest you think Jesus is being a control freak, remember that verses come in groups.
The previous verse 13  DEFINES the love that a friend has --- "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends."

So Jesus was simultaneous predicting  His LOVE FOR US that's so great
that He would die on a cross for us --- AND
our Love for JESUS if we are TRULY His friend  that makes us WANT to obey Him.

As I face diet choices today,
will I pray the Captains'  prayer  &  promise to LORD GOD?
How 'bout you?   Let us pray!

PRAYER
"Whether it is pleasing or displeasing,
we will obey the voice of [YOU],
The LORD our God ...
that it may be well with us
when we obey
the voice of the LORD our God." Jeremiah 42: 6
