Chain Letter Dieting Parable -- by DianaDee Osborne

IT'S   NOT   FAIR!
I  WORKED  AS  HARD   AS  SHE  DID ...  OR HE  DID.....
      *I*    DESERVE     CREDIT!
I  DESERVE  PRAISE  *MORE*  THAN THEM!
WHY  ISN'T  GOD  BLESSING ME  AS  MUCH  AS THEM?
GOD  IS  UNFAIR TO  BLESS THEM  MORE THAN  ME....
GOD  IS  UNFAIR..........
====================================================
.

It's like a CHAIN LETTER word game:
Start with one word and
change one letter at a time to get to a 2nd word:
DIET
DIRT
DIRE
T I R E  .......... from  DIET  >>  TIRE out in
4 short steps. So before we know it, what started as a
dedication to DIET  & following God's plan for health
turns to us deciding that we TIRE  of even trying,
because         (there's always a reason)
We begin looking at others and wondering why
WE aren't blessed with as much success as others.
============================================

.
ENVY  becomes  a  Death  Hold  HOOK :
God's  PARABLE  Supporting Word :  1 Samuel 18:7
King Saul  did  NOT  have to  "disintegrate"  as he did.
  HE made   repeated choices
                 to be   bitter   against David.
So the women sang as they danced, and said:
            “Saul has slain his thousands,
                            And David his ten thousands.”

Think about it! >>
KING Saul's goal was supposedly the Good of his nation.
And it was PRAISE he got when women
chanted a song that recognized the 1,000s of enemies
God had blessed him with being able to stop from
                   hurting his country.

YET all King Saul cared about was his PRIDE:  That
David got MORE praise.
CHAIN LETTER  Game style CHOSEN  Bitterness
led Saul  *step by step*  into becoming also
angry  at GOD   for allowing this guy to rise in
popularity..... forgetting that David had stood against a giant man
that all Saul's men.... & Saul Himself.... feared to fight.
Forgetting that David had Trusted God long before Saul..........

SO WHAT???
Bitterness drives us AWAY from the LORD God who
could help us if we weren't focused on other people...
Their opinions. Their successes.
A warning to me ... to each of us:
If  I become bitter that others SEEM  MORE  BLESSED
in    ANYTHING  ... including in seeming to
lose weight easily, or to
be able to eat all they want without dieting,
I'd removed my focus from the Only One Who Can Help Me
to.... me.  And as Saul found:  "Me" is a very poor helper.
.
PRAYER
LORD GOD,  I need you help in fighting these temptations to bitterness.
To envy, which you clearly have repeatedly declared EVIL,  like in
First Corinthians 13's LOVE CHAPTER. Please help me, I pray:

I truly DO want to reflect you more and more with Your help....
First Corinthians 3:18 .....  Even when I'm sad that I've failed so many times in
this particular sin of overeating... gluttony... and have gone from
DIET   to   TIRE.  Please help me switch to Scrabble and turn
DIET   to   TIED  to my LORD and my God, fighting Romans 7 style
powerful temptations with the weapons You've promised at the end of
Ephesians 6!
James 4:7-8, I run FROM evil and tie myself to YOU, LORD!

James 3:13 -end.  13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.
16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is
sown in peace by those who make peace.
